The ArbitrumDAO Turns 2: Welcome to the Land of Liquidity

Two years ago, ArbitrumDAO came to life to put the future of Ethereum scaling into the hands of the community. Today, the Arbitrum Foundation is proud to celebrate this milestone alongside one of the most active, dedicated, and innovative communities in Web3.

In just 24 months, ArbitrumDAO has evolved into a leading model of decentralized governance — efficient, forward-thinking, and community-driven. Before we reveal our anniversary gift (yes, it’s mintable), let’s look back at some of the biggest wins from the Land of Liquidity.

DAO Activity

The ArbitrumDAO has established itself as a benchmark for transparent, inclusive, and active governance. Here’s a snapshot of its activity over the last two years:

  • 72 onchain proposals voted on via Tally
  • 364 temperature checks on Snapshot
  • 153 proposals discussed on the Arbitrum Forum

On average, the DAO has voted on approximately 4 proposals each week. Notably, nearly 70% of delegated voting power is active — a level of participation that sets the standard for DAOs everywhere. For instance, the recent Timeboost proposal saw 245 million votes cast out of a total 345 million delegated. This is a huge testament to the activity and engagement of the DAO, demonstrating its commitment to shaping Arbitrum’s future.

Treasury

As of this post, the ArbitrumDAO treasury holds roughly 2.8 billion ARB. Over the last two years, the DAO has not only functioned as an allocator of capital but also as a self-sustaining economy earning returns from its investments alongside transaction fee revenue.

The DAO has generated around 20,000 ETH in profit during this period and continues to diversify its holdings into more stable, yield-bearing assets such as Real-World Assets (RWAs).

DAO Initiatives

The DAO has deployed over 750M ARB across a range of initiatives that have fueled growth across every corner of the ecosystem. Some notable highlights include:

Some highlights:

  • 250M ARB to bolster the Arbitrum Foundation’s Strategic Partnership Budget
  • 225M ARB to establish the Gaming Catalyst Program (GCP)
  • 157M ARB for incentive programs (STIP, LTIPP, ancillary programs)
  • 70M ARB into RWAs via the Stable Treasury Endowment Program (STEP)
  • 30M ARB to establish the OpCo
  • 27.5M ARB for Domain Allocator Offering (D.A.O) Grants via Questbook
  • 12.1M ARB for 2 iterations of the Delegate Incentive Program

Every one of these moves reflects the DAO’s belief in building public goods, supporting innovation, and fostering resilience through community-owned infrastructure.

Governance of Arbitrum Technology

While the development of Arbitrum technology began in 2014, it was in 2023 that the ArbitrumDAO formally assumed governance of Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova. Since then, the community has taken an active role in shaping the evolution of the network. Over the past year alone, the DAO has passed five key technical proposals that reinforce Arbitrum’s position at the forefront of Ethereum scaling. Notable examples include Stylus, BoLD, and Timeboost, each contributing to the continued advancement and resilience of the protocol.
